Cauldron Announcements

CURRENT DATE is 12th Sunebb 680

Cauldron Parties!

Both the rich and the poor of Cauldron have celebrated these last few days, following the dramatic rescue of the city from the floods. Of note if the part the Golden Lanterns have played in all celebrations, joining with the common folk to help “drink down the flood” and the “Crater Lake Monster Hunt”, and also joining the respected nobles of the city for the annual Demonscar ball. Our heroes put on a great show for the city, dramatic entrances, stupendous performances, and turning out to be accomplished dancers as well!

Of particular note was the Beautiful Aria, coming out of her shell in a gorgeous Artorial creation, and the notable Sorcerer Fenyael striding about in another fine ‘Artorial outfit. Already some folk in cauldron are copying his subdued and elegant look for the new season His glowing red eyes have been less of a hit, with some people going so far as to say that it is unlikely that anyone with demonic heritage might have fought on the side of Surabar. His first time at the ball however, and a notable showing (this reporter suggests less glowing red eyes at the next ball, Fenyal?). The other members of the Golden Lanterns also looked fine, though perhaps without the elegant edge that ‘Artorial offers with his better garments.

It should also be noted that the young lad going by the name Zacharias has the makings of a great dramatist, putting on a show for his fight as Nabthatoran that hasn’t been seen since the real thing! We look forward to seeing more of this young talent.

Finally it is worth noting that Cauldron has a new Angel, the wonderful lady Rysalis enchanted us all (excepting maybe Annah Taskerhill) with her wonderful singing.

All in all, a great ball, a prelude to a great new year in just a few days time!

1st Sunebb, 680, Golden Lantern watch

Keeping a close eye on the Golden Lanterns has been tricky of late, given their busy activities keeping Cauldron safe, however they have been seen recently in the Coy Nixie, out together for an evening in one of Cauldron’s finer establishments. Scouting the territory no doubt in preparation for the upcoming Demonscar ball, rumor has it that the whole group has been invited, (even the young Zacharias), in recognition of their efforts to save our fair city. Some members of the party where later seen dancing the night away with the young Eliza Lathenmire, there has been much speculation about what will have been said later in the Lathenmire family!

Also of note, the blossoming romance between Rhysalis and Artus continues. More meetings, Artus attending services at the Church of Pelor… maybe a change for the better in the life of our favorite scoundrel

1st Sunebb, 680, Church of Pelor Announcement

Kristof Jurgensen has announced that he is to step down as head of the Church of Pelor in Cauldron, a role that he insists was only temporary. Kristof has announced that Aria Hollow, of the Golden Lanterns will take his place, and lead Pelor’s faithful in Cauldron. We offer Aria our best wishes in her new role, and congratulate Kristof on this most difficult and courageous decision.

Cauldron Saved

The Golden Lanterns, together with the Temples of St. Cuthbert and Pelor have saved the city from flooding!

Late last night the Golden Lanterns returned from a dank dungeon, having reclaimed most of the Wand of Control Water, stolen at the time of the horrible murder of Sarcem Delasharn. Members of the Golden Lantern spent many hours using mighty magics to control the flooding of the city, and late that evening declared that the city was safe. Water levels have dropped to their normal level, and even now the rains are letting up. This years Flood Festival promises to be a major party!

Representatives from Wee Jas were unavailablle for comment, however Asfelkir Hranleurt was heard to say “Well, I said all along that the city wouldn’t flood, and by Kord’s mercy, it hasn’t”

Mayor Severen Navalant announced that Cauldron would find some suitablle reward for these epic endevours, however he was also heard to say that glorious deads would not be suitable excuse to miss any necessary tax payments.

Triel is dead

The condemned murderer Triel Eldurast has died, however mysteriously, this death has taken place before her schedulled execution. Rumors that she has now risen as a ghost were quickly repressed by Tearson Skellerang. Tearson did however say that due to some much needed refurbishments, parts of the jail complex were now closed off, and that new accommodation would be found for some of the notorious criminals normally housed there.

Demonscar ball postponed!

In a dramatic turn Zachary Aslaxin has announced that the Demonscar Ball will be postponed. “My wife and I are agreed that we cannot hold this annual celebration while the poor of the city face flooding or worse.” Lord Aslaxin has said that the ball has tentatively been reschedulled for the 15th of Sunsebb, “By announcing a date, we are expressing our hope that the floods will be resolved happily. Should Cauldron flood, we will not have the ball this year.” Both Sarleens Silks & Finery, and Artorial Elegance have said that they support this decision, and that any costumes booked for the previos date will remain available to the original customer for the new date.

Cora Lathenmire was heard commenting that she did not understand why the poor people of Cauldron should be allowed to interfere with her social calendar, however her comments didn’t get much sympathy from the other members of the Stormblades.

Romance in Cauldron? 22nd Ready’reat 680

Artus Shemwick is known to be a handsome young man, and now he has been seen to put this reputation to good use! The recent sighting of him entertaining the beautiful young Paladin of Pelor, Rhysalis have certainly got people talking in the Tipped Tankard. The most frequent question is “when these two will meet again?”, and “will anything come of it?”.

Flaine Gilgahar has been asked to compose something suitable to document the meeting of the Tipped Tankard's own Artus Shemwich, and Rhysalis over a pint of beer. This potential romance is full of comic potential, with Artus known to prefer a more casual approach to the law, and Rhysalis a Paladin of Pelor. However Flaine has declined, which is rather unlike the Flaine we know and love; Flaine would not normally have wasted a moment preparing a suitably comic and no doubt rude ode to the potential union. Maybe Flaine sees a real chance of a change in one of these two’s path through life.

Funeral of Sarcem Delasharn will take place on the 25th Ready’reat 680

The new High Priestess of St, Cuthberts, Jenya Urikas, has announced that the funeral of Sarcem Delasharn will take place at noon on the 25th Ready’reat. This is timed to take place the day after the execution of the terrible criminal Triel Eldurast who was responsible for his death. Jenya has also publically thanked the Goldern Lanterns for aprehending this notorious fugitive from Justice. May the strength of St. Cuthbert guide her path to justice!

Lord Mayor Navalant has told Jenya that he will attend the ceremony for this great man, known and respected by all of Cauldron.

Execution of Triel Eldurast will take place on the 24th Ready’reat 680

Terseon Skellerang, Captain of the Cauldron Town Guard, has announced that on the 24th Ready’reat the terrible Triel Eldurast will be executed outside the Guards Hall. Triel’s identity has been confirmed, and since there is an outstanding death warrent there is no reason for delay in execution. Ike Iverson (on behalf of Embril Aloustinai, who has not been seen from some days) indicated that the temple of Wee Jas supported the execution, and hoped that Triel would find justice when she finally met Wee Jas himself.

Chancellor Stenheort Announces Minor Tax Raise, 22nd Ready’reat 680

Taxes go up again, although restricted to a few groups, non-citizens and farmers. Rumors go that this is just the beginning of more tax increases affecting far more citizens. The Lord Mayor acknowledged that more funds may be necessary for the repair of the recent flood damage to Ash Avenue and more troops to deal with the increasing incidents on the road to Sasserine.

Heard on the Street

A group made up of The Striders of Fharlanghn, Alex Tercival from the Church of Pelor, and the Golden Lanters has defeated a big goblin army massing to the east of Cauldron, deep in the Jungle. The Goblins were rallying to the banner of “Drakthar” who is thought to be a long dead goblin diety. Details of the fighting are sketchy. As a side note, following this battle, contact was once again resumed with the small village of Archet. Sonia de Court from Archet, expressed her gratitude to these various groups who helped her small village against these evil ones.

Little is known of the Striders of Fharlanghn, except that one of their goals is to keep the roads safe. Well, they are safer now, thanks to this group’s heroic efforts.

Stormblades Tackle Undead Woman, 21st Ready’reat 680

A woman people had considered mad was discovered to be an undead creature no one had seen before. She had first appeared in Cauldron some weeks back, begging for people to help her when she wasn’t screaming about the people who had “done this to me.” The town guard had several times collected her and escorted her out of the city, though they took care to be as nice as they could. Several days ago, though, she hadn’t gone with them as usual. Instead, she attacked the guards, and killed two of them before disappearing down an alley. The surviving guards said that she had been struck many times and never bled, the flesh peeling back from her bones like tattered cloth. The Stormblades hunted the woman down and destroyed her. The clerics of Wee Jas claimed the body, but offered no comment about what kind of undead creature the woman had become.

WATERS RISING, FLOOD FEARED! 19th Ready’reat 680

Wands Missing! Breaking News! The churches of Cauldron have lost the wands of control water that were to be used to control the flooding. There is nothing to hold back the waters if the rains don’t stop! This year, according to Jenya Urikas, only the church of St. Cuthbert created wands and those wands are missing! When asked why the other churches did not participate, this reporter got mixed responses. Kristof Jurgensen, High Priest of Pelor, was shocked and saddened by the news. His church did not contribute due to the recent death of his three superiors. Asfelkir Hranlurt, High Priest of Kord, is convinced the lake won’t flood since it hasn’t flooded in over a decade. He also noted that the buildings by the lake have been rebuilt on stilts and behind breakwaters and are safe. Ike Iverson of Wee Jas cited the coming expansion of the cathedral as a drain on church funds making participation in wand creation impossible.

Lucky Monkey Attacked! Priest Slain! 19th Ready’reat 680

In other shocking news, the Lucky Monkey was attacked by bandits and the guests and staff slain to the last person! Our own Sarcem Delasharn, the High Priest of St. Cuthbert, was one of the victims! His body was recovered by the same band of local heroes who rescued our missing townsfolk ‘the Goldern Lanterns’. Sarcem was carrying the now-missing wands. It is believed these wands were stolen by the bandit leaders. Speculation is rampant. Some claim an evil group of clerics worshiping a two-headed baboon demon-god are behind the theft and that the bandits were led by a vile ape-man. Others say that the theft was by a red-headed woman with tattoos and spiked mail, calling to mind thoughts of Triel Eldurast. Long believed dead, but allegedly seen recently near Crater Lake under obscure circumstances. Still others claim an evil aquatic druid has taken up residence in the lake from the Underdark and is behind the rains and flooding. Jenya Urikas, now High Priest of St. Cuthbert, has announced that services for Sarcem Delesharn will be held on the next feast day of the Cudgel.

Flood festival, 10th Ready’reat 680

More and more citizens are preparing for the coming festivities. Yes, folks, you can’t be quick enough to order your costumes! When the rains come you may be to late! Athletes are already training for the Great Run through Obsidian Avenue. Renowned drinkers practice their skills for the Drink Down the Flood competition, while bards, musicians and jugglers hone their skills, all eager to win a major prize. Meanwhile inns and taverns, vendors, tailors and garment workers prepare for the busiest time of year. Many people feel that this year’s festival will be greater than ever!

Stormblades eradicate kobold infestation.

A pesky tribe of kobolds use to infest some of the catacombs below the southern section of the city, but they’ve been taken care of now. Anna Taskerhill and her Stormblades defeated Splot, Wrath of Kobolds, and drove out the remaining members of the tribe. Anna declared: ”I dedicate this victory to my mother, who so sadly passed away recently. It was a tough battle, especially their leader showed quite a resistance, but in the end we defeated all of them. Cauldron’s citizens can go to sleep again without fear.” So once again our Stormblades defended the city from a grave danger. A warm thank you from Cauldron’s citizen!

Orphans freed!! Kidnappings solved.

The latest kidnapping incidents in Cauldron have been solved. A previously unknown adventurers group named The Golden Lanterns braved the long forgotten ruins of Jzaridune to rescue four missing children. Beside the children also some fortunate citizens were saved from slave traders in the Malachite Fortress. Heading this slave operation was a strange breeding of troll and dwarf named Kazmojen. The Golden Lanterns then headed deep into the jungle, looking for more slaves to free.

Orphans Latest Victims as Kidnappings Continue

In the latest kidnapping incident in Cauldron, four orphan children were taken from the Lantern Street Orphange. Despite Captain Skellerang’s assurances that his best man sergeant Krewis is trying to find the missing persons, Cauldron’s citizens worry that there are nefarious forces at work in and around the city proper. A quick survey on the streets will offer the seeker any number of possible explanations from the mundane to the bizarre. Some say a secret guild of Halfling rogues is responsible for the robberies and kidnappings, but up to now evidence is scarce. Coryston Pike, one of the kidnapped victims, feared for her life days before she vanished. Coincidence? I think not! “A cloaked figure collided with me in the street and knocked me down. She uttered some horrible curse, glared at me with her ghostly face and haunting blue eyes, then strode off.” reports one local who chose to remain anonymous. Captain Skellerang denies rumors of an evil cult that has taken residence in Cauldron and is sacrificing kidnap victims to Morkoth, the creature rumored to live in Cauldron Lake. “Hogwash!” states Captain Skellerang. “Morkoth is a child’s story as is, let alone some fantasy cult. We’ll get to the real culprit.” The church of St. Cuthbert has vowed to locate the missing children and bring the kidnappers to justice.

Cathedral Expands

With a new Spire said to touch the heavens, The Cathedral of Wee Jas is set to expand it’s already significant structure even further. ‘This Cathedral is the greatest religious institution our city has ever known. Every day hundreds if not thousands come to this hallow site to pay homage to Wee- Jas. Our crypts are filled with the forefathers of neigh every citizen alive. It is only natural this sacred cathedral reflect the greatness of not only Wee-Jas, but also the city of Cauldron’ exclaims an exuberant Father Iverson. The most prominent feature of the new cathedral will be the spire. It will rise high over Cauldron’s impressive malachite walls. On a clear day it should be visible all the way from Redgourge. In addition, the cathedral’s crypts will be greatly expanded. ‘We will be able to care for the city’s dead for another century or more’ says Ike Iverson. ‘If all goes according to plan, High priestess Embryl Aloustinai will consecrate the new cathedral by next year’s summer equinox.’ Not everyone is as exited as father Iverson, though. ‘We are less than thrilled with our sister church’s expansion. The new spire is set to block our view of the sun-god’s ascent to heaven. We cannot start our ceremonies until the sun hits the altar’s golden hart’ explains a highly agitated Kristoff Jurgensen of the Church of Pelor. ‘I feel this is deliberate on the part of High Priestess Aloustinai.

Flaine Gilgahar returns to Cauldron

After many months away, Flaine Gilgahar has once again been seen on the streets of Cauldron. The renowned entertained said that he would once more use Tipped Tankard Tavern as his regular venue. Pellir Dalskar of The Drunken Morkoth was heard to comment “Since there appears to be no shortage of strangled cats in Cauldron, I am not sure his return is needed” he did also comment however that he certainly respected Flaine’s ability with a lyre.

Flaine Gilgahar was unually reticent on his long absence, says only “I missed Cauldron and it felt like the time to come home”
