The Cauldron Knowlerns
Lady Ophilia Knowlern also owns the “Cusp of Sunrise” on Obsidian Avenue, Northeast, and the Drunken Morkoth. The Cusp is an exclusive place of relaxation, fine food and drink for some of Cauldorns finer citizens. Entrance is available only on invitation. Membership is available for those privilaged with a fine bearing and good manners for only 1000gp per year, though you must also be invited by another respected member. She inherited control of this Vaasan house when her father and brother died in a mine explosion, and she has been loathe to marry, giving up her power. The Drunken Morkoth is one of the most popular taverns in Cauldron.
The explosion that killed her father and brother are only part of a long and continuing list of tragedy to strike these mines, rumours of hauntings, restless dead, and whispers in the dark of the furthest tunnels keep many people away, and it is only the high wages, and superb metals from the mines that keep them open. Lady Ophelia herself might close the mines, but every time she considers this, the workers and families of the workers pleed her to reconsider. Although dangerous, they offer a good living to those brave sould willing to work there.
