T1-T2 Mantan ships

T2 Legacy Slipstream-Capable Research Ships

These are rare ships, and their original purpose is unknown. Few exist, and so they are only entrusted to the most capable scientists on lease. The “beam” weapons are railguns geared towards self-defense. Most augmentation efforts went into the computer systems, with modest success. They mainly serve as scientific research stations, with the equipment to scavenge as necessary.

Automated defense - Rank 2 Defense (1) (Is this against torps (“Point Defense”) or EW (“Firewall”)? --Yunus)
Vector Randomizer - Defense 2 versus Beam (1) Civilian (3) T2 Slipstream Legacy (1)

Aspects:
Huge
Gifted with Gadgets - after the Celebes modification
Leased, not Owned - can be taken by the Mantis government for analysis or repropriation without warning
Research Ship - equipment for various forms of scientific analysis
What’s This Button Do? - the ship is of foreign design, and so the operator only has its operation down to a rough methodology. It is extremely difficult to repair.

Military Ships (from the official space combat chapter - I might modify them if I have time)

T1 Anomaly Class Lab Vessel

Autonomous sensor drones, nuclear seismic charges, x-ray lasers, and powerful
computers are all dangerous in the hands of a motivated scientist.

Aspects:
Out of ammo
For science!
Government lasers are pretty good it turns out
Powerful automation
Efficient use of space

T1 Missile boat

The missile boat is the mainstay of system defense fleets for cultures that do not yet
have the capability for interstellar travel. It is heavily armoured and able to inflict
substantial harm even on more advanced vessels.

T1 Cargo Liner

These ships ferry supplies between the homeworld port, the perimeter starbases, and the traders
from beyond the slipstream. They’re basically giant boxes with just enough v-shift to not miss an appointment.

T1 Passenger Liner

Some ships are needed to ferry populations to the larger bases in the system. Many take the trip simply
as a vacation, treating the existential experience as a vital plot-point on their graph of Human Experience.

T1 Vengeful Pursuant

The Vengeful Pursuant and its sister ship, the Hackmaster, are of recent design. They are intended to be more
maneuverable than their mainstay counterpart, able to quickly pursue pirates and investigate possible threats.
Paired, they also appear curiously matched to a Vulcanan Picket Ship. Is this coincidence? Sources don’t say.
