Metal Immunity: Lava children are completely unaffected by metal. They can walk through metal doors or bars as if the metal wasn’t there, and metal objects and weapons, including magic weapons, pass right through a lava child’s body without affecting it in any way. Because of this, a lava child also has tactical advantage on melee attack rolls against targets wearing armor that is predominantly metal.

Lava Child Shaman: Every band of lava children includes one arcane spellcaster. A lava child spellcaster has heightened Charisma (13) and the ability to cast the following spells, using Charisma as its spellcasting ability (DC 11, attack +3). Lava children make their lairs deep and usually in warm areas—the warmer, the better. Volcanoes, hot springs, thermal vents, and other geothermal areas are the most likely to attract lava children. They are reclusive and rarely have dealings with other races. The exceptions are those races with a similar structure and tolerance for extreme heat, such as magmin, salamanders, and azers.

When they’re drawn into combat, lava children attack with their clawed hands and vicious bite. When they claw and bite the same target, their red-hot breath causes extra damage. Their melee fighters don’t shy away from enemies in heavy armor, because metal armor offers little protection against lava children claws and teeth. Quick-moving, agile foes and those that dish out cold damage are among their chief worries.
