495-2 ANARCHY

After the battle of Albans there was much feasting and drinking, the high nobility all above the hill in the castle while the rest of the knights and army partied in the lower camps. Many of the knights indulged and drank themselves under the table. Wade used this opportunity to sneak away into the infirmary however. And once there he told the monks he was merely checking on Sir Brastius, however in reality he sneaked a vial of poison into a cup of water that was then given to Brastius. Wade then headed back to the party without anyone noticing.

In the knight there were many screams from the castle, rousing the knights, those who were not too drunk went to investigate, only to find a horrific scene in the castle. Almost all the lords and ladies were either dead or dying, despite trying their best to save them, they all died soon after, including Earl Roderick, and King Uther. The rest of the knight was chaos and knights tried to get a grip with the few remaining lords and ladies, and find out what had happened. Finding no solid evidence of who had done it, all they could do was prepare the bodies for burial and prepare to take the king to Stonehenge. During the night, Sir Brastius also passed away, seemingly of a heart attack, though the monks were puzzled since his mounds had not seemed to be mortal…

Many of the knights returned to their counties to find out who was their new lord, while others accompanied the king to Stonehenge for the funeral. Sir Arpad was taken to his manor, still mortally wounded from the battle. After the funeral the Salisbury knights returned home to find that Ellen, Rodericks wife was now leading the county until her son, the rightful ruler of Salisbury came of age.

Many counties were in similar chaos, and the period of anarchy had just begun…
