Basalt Bastion

Basalt Bastion The greatest of the fortresses built by Kalawa this great fortress was built on the eastern coast of Zamiatin to warn of and protect from any further invasions from outside the Reefwind Islands. The Fortress is built in a concentric series of ever-expanding defensive moats, bastions, walls, and fields. Located on the edge of a rocky outcropping overlooking the eastern reefs between one of the marshlands common to the coast this structure sits less than seventy feet above sea level.

The whole moat system is fed by seawater brought into canals dug by the engineers who first built this fortress and the waters of the nearby mires and river. The whole system which feeds in through a series of canals effectively turns the whole area into a geometrically beautiful man-made river delta.
