Petrified Beholder Cave

A large irregular cave that trails away from you into darkness. Stalactites and stalagmites abound in the cave, with a curious cracked boulder near the center. The boulder is nearly spherical, perhaps eight or nine feet in diameter, and cracked down the middle. The boulder seems to be hollow, with apparently plant-like growth on the nearest side.

But that’s not all. There are signs of battle in this cave – broken stalactites and stalagmites and a variety of silvery metallic fragments strewn about everywhere. Some of the fragments are quite large, appearing as a silvery metallic hand or leg or skull. And most striking of all, right before you at the entrance to the cave, a silvery metallic humanoid construct lay at your feet. The construct is whole but unmoving, appearing as a stylized human skeletal warrior in ancient ceremonial armor. Some type of polearm lay at its side. And most interesting of all, dozens, perhaps hundreds of the tiny silvery “beetles” lay on, around and near the silvery skeletal warrior.
