Retainers:

Hirelings:

Summary

A medium-sized party descended into the Under Mausoleum to quest for [[Amadeo?]], who requested that they rid this level of Beast Folk.

The party arranged a diversion with Amadeo’s guards, then went around by a circuitous route to try and catch the beasts unawares. A fierce, running battle ensued, back & forth across the rooms occupied by the beasts. Though a Great Beast snuck around behind the party & wounded the torchbearer Tork, in the end the party split their enemies into small groups, and was able to destroy them one by one.

They claimed the Great Beast’s glowing sword & small iron key for their own.

Eventually they discovered NPCs (a band of short people, then some mercenaries, then a wizard Amedeo), all of whom they parleyed with.

Amedeo suggested he’d offer them a mission if they returned to him at some point in the future.

  • Plan (if any): Go and kill Rikard!

PCs

Outcome

  • Heroes lost: 0 (1 broken arm)
  • Monsters Vanquished: 2 giant ferrets, 6 “old man creatures”, 1 Rikard
  • Treasure Recovered: Rikard’s sword (finely wrought, jeweled arming sword worth 1000sp); 14sp
  • Experience Earned: 900xp (monsters) + 1014xp (treasure) = 1914xp
    • 245xp each; 40xp to Gale, Ivan, Lem, Terg, Ymar (killed ferrets)

Summary

The party returned to the watchtower, intent on killing [[Rikard?]]. They busted the door & were attacked by giant ferrets, leading to Ymar having his arm broken (though quick magical work from Terg saved his life. Once the ferrets were vanquished, they continue through the trapdoor down into the depths. The strange red underwold torches were all extuingished. In Rikard’s old room they met [[Ornir?]], a flunky of some kind who passed them a message from Rikard, but was convinced to join them in killing the bad guy (he seemed to have a grievance against his boss).

So, guided by Ornir, the party went down to the 2nd level. There they were ambushed in the process of setting their own ambush, but managed to retreat in order. Then they taunted Rikard out of the safety of his ranks, and shot him down in cold blood.

This did not please his many underlings, who charged, but a well-timed spell from Gale opened a pit to hold off the charge, and the party grabbed Rikard’s body & sword, and fled the scene!
